Journal your way into happiness!
“It is not happiness that brings us gratitude, it is gratitude which brings us happiness.” What if you could you improve your mood, well-being, self-esteem, and overall happiness daily with a simple 10 minute exercise?
Işık and Tekinalp investigated the effects of gratitude journaling on 21 first-year college students between the age of 17-19. Over a time span of 3 weeks, 11 of these students were asked to review their days at the end of each day. They were told to ask themselves the following questions: What am I grateful for? What made me feel good today? The 10 other students did not have such guidelines. After these 3 weeks they examined the student’s overall well-being.
The results were clear: 3 weeks of daily gratitude journaling showed major gains of positive emotions, satisfaction with life, gratitude, well-being, and a decrease in negative emotions compared to the students who did not journal – they showed no difference in their mental state.
So, what is stopping you? With spending just 10 minutes a day on gratitude journaling you could enhance your life quality and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Start today and make important steps into living a more fulfilled and happy life!
